Standards Day celebrated

World Standards Day will be celebrated by the local branch of the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) on Friday by conducting a seminar on the current year's theme, `Standards for a safer world'.

According to BIS Director and Head B.K. Murthy, the seminar will hightlight the need for international standardisation to ensure safety, health, security and convenience, besides ensuring quality with economic benefits.

Dasara at VSP

Dasara puja was conducted in Viskahapatnam Steel Plant's units like steel melt shop, electrical repair shop, utility equipment and repair shop, light and medium merchant mill, thermal power plant, blast furnaces, etc., on Wednesday. VSP Chairman and Managing Director Y. Siva Sagar Rao took part in the celebrations.

Tapovana sadhana

Rishignanam, an organisation propagating Vedavidya sadhana, will conduct Tapovana Sadhana shibiram for the benefit of the spiritually-inclined at Puri, Varanasi, Allahabad, Hardwar and Rishikesh during the Kartikamasam (November). Interested participants can register their names with its pradhana acharya Suryabhagavan (93931-12962 or 2598478) on or before October 25.
