Nagpur Airport being renamed

NEW DELHI: The Nagpur Airport is being renamed '`Dr. Ambedkar International Airport'' and the first international flight to Nagpur is commencing on Sunday. Air Arabia, a carrier of United Arab Emirates (UAE) is starting a new service on the Sharjah - Nagpur - Sharjah sector from Sunday.

The Union Cabinet had approved the declaration of the existing airport as an ``International Airport'' on April 8 this year.

The Maharashtra Government has proposed to develop a world class Multi-modal International Passenger & Cargo Hub Airport at Nagpur (MIHAN) integrated with the existing airport.
