HYDERABAD: President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam arrived in the city late tonight to participate in a couple of programmes on Saturday.

He was supposed to reach here at 9.45 p.m. but the special Indian Air Force (IAF) aircraft bringing him touched down at the airport an hour late. Governor Sushil Kumar Shinde, Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, and the Speaker, K.R. Suresh Reddy, were among those who received him.

There were very few people to greet Dr. Kalam at the specially-erected shamiana on the tarmac when he walked down after disembarking from the plane. The Chief Minister introduced his Cabinet colleagues to him. Dr. Kalam had a brief chat with the Speaker's son, Amit, before leaving for Raj Bhavan.
