RDX was used in the explosion, says police chief

Staff Reporter

`Police yet to ascertain if it was a suicide attack or a premature detonation'

HYDERABAD: DGP Swaranjit Sen on Friday said RDX was used in the Commissioner's Task Force office explosion that left a home guard and a suspected suicide bomber dead.

He was speaking to reporters at the Secretariat after attending a high-level meeting with Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy and Home Minister K. Jana Reddy. Mr. Sen said the civilian victim was aged about 25-30 years.

`TK-200'

A mark of TK-200 was found on a pair of footwear apparently belonging to the victim and found at the blast site.

"We're trying to find out what TK 200 means and have to see if it helps us anyway to establish his identity," he said. Some suspects were already picked up from the city, he maintained. He made it clear that police were yet to ascertain if it was a suicide attack or a premature detonation.

ISI hand

Special Correspondent writes: Home Minister K. Jana Reddy said that the bomb blast was "a clear case" of ISI activity.

Speaking to reporters after Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy reviewed the law and order situation with reference to ISI activity in the State at Secretariat on Friday, the Minister said, the police would shortly resolve the riddle of establishing the identity of the suicide bomber.
