Fight child labour from all angles: ILO

NEW DELHI:
Urging trade unions to take the initiative in abolishing child labour, the International Labour Organisation Director, Leyla Tegmo Reddy, said its prevalence undermined the negotiating power and wages of adult workers and had a negative impact on adult employment.
"Most importantly, child labour is detrimental to the growth and development of children. Hence it is very important for us to fight child labour from all angles and join hands to eliminate it,'' she said at a two-day workshop organised by the All-India Trade Union Congress.
