TIRUPATI: For poultry and livestock enthusiasts, here is good news. The temple city of Tirupati is bracing itself up to host two major dairy and poultry related events in November -- the National Poultry and Dairy Exhibition and the South Indian Cattle show.

Both the events are expected to take place in the first week of November at two different venues.

Focus on technology

The two-day National Poultry and Dairy Exhibition would get under way on November 6 on the eve of the 70th birth anniversary of late Dr. B,V. Rao, the doyen of the Indian Poultry industry. Tirupati has been selected as the venue for the show in view of its ideal location from the point of view of the farmers from Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala and Maharashtra who are expected to partake in it. According to M.N. Rao, Organiser of the National Exhibition, though the Veterinary College campus here has been originally identified as the venue for the show, it has now been shifted to the `Ramee Guestline Hotel,' as the dates clashed with the South Indian Cattle show being contemplated around the same time on the Veterinary College campus. The cattle show is being organised by the Animal Husbandry department with the co-sponsorship of the newly set-up Veterinary University, Tirupati, sources said.
