Pact for submarine cable

NEW DELHI: : Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited, Sri Lanka Telecom and NEC have signed an agreement for laying submarine cable between India and Sri Lanka. The optical fibre cable will have an initial capacity of 20 gbps and carry voice data as well as video communication. The cable will be laid between Tuticorin and Mt. Lavinia, a distance of 325 kms. The project will be completed in eight months and cost Rs. 80 crores.
