KING OF COMEDY: Nagesh
CHENNAI: They have made you laugh all through the years, played second fiddle to the hero, provided comic relief to balance the high drama in our cinema but gone unsung, sometimes even making an abrupt exit. Even at film award functions, the Best Actors steal the limelight. On October 23 at Kamaraj Arangam, they will be remembered, honoured and thanked for their contribution to Tamil Cinema. New Waves Creations and DLM Digital Studios (an associate of Kavithalaya Productions) are organising `Nagaichuvai Thiruvizha,' a festival to felicitate the comedians of yore. Nagesh will be honoured with the N.S.Krishnan Award, Manorama will be presented the T.A.Maduram Award, Sachu will receive the K.A.Thangavelu Award and `Venniradai' Murthy the Chandrababu award at the function to be anchored by Pandiyarajan and Oorvasi. Veteran director K.Balachander will preside and distribute the awards along with `Cho' Ramaswamy and Jayakanthan. In between comic interludes by `Crazy' Mohan, `Lollu' Santhanam, Mayilsaami and Dhamu, the legends of comedy will be felicitated by comedians Vadivelu, Vivek, Kovai Sarala, Janakaraj, Bosskey, Karunaas, Charlie, Thyagu, Pandu, Madan Bob, Chittibabu, Loose Mohan, Omakuchchi, Manobala, Ramesh Kanna, Moulee, S.Ve. Shekar and Kumarimuthu. The proceeds will go to Bangalore-based NGO Rescue Foundation.
