HYDERABAD: Former Chief Minister N. Bhaskara Rao has demanded withdrawal of the controversial GO raising the capacity of the Pothireddypadu head regulator. He also wanted a meeting of senior Congress leaders to be convened. Describing the Government's decision as "unilateral and hasty", he said it was a delicate and important matter and none of the affected regions should be made to feel let down, Mr. Rao told The Hindu here on Sunday.
`Unilateral'
He said taking "unilateral decisions" was not good for the party. The GO was issued without discussion in the Cabinet. The Assembly debate on the issue also remained inconclusive, he added. The GO was based on the recommendation of an engineer from Kadapa. He expressed fears that Krishna water would not be available for Nagarjunasagar, Prakasam Barrage, SLBC and Hyderbad if it was implemented. The controversial issue could be referred to experts after it was discussed at a meeting of the seniors in the party. The Congress victory in the elections was due to the effort of "combined leadership" and not a single individual.
