13 drowned, 19 missing as boat capsizes
MORENA (MADHYA PRADESH):
Thirteen persons were drowned and 19 missing after a boat carrying pilgrims capsized on Chambal river near Chinnoni village here on Sunday, police said.
Bodies of 13 pilgrims had been fished out, they said.
The boat, carrying 40 pilgrims, was crossing the river at Sevar Ghat when the accident took place, police said adding all of them were on way to visit a temple in neighbouring Rajasthan. Eight of the boat passengers swam to safety, they said adding senior police and district officials had rushed to the spot and divers were searching for the missing. District Collector Amit Rathore has announced an ex-gratia of Rs. 5,000 for the families of each of the deceased, sources said. — PTI
