MANGALORE: Investigators probing links of three people arrested by the Dakshina Kannada District Anti-Rowdy Squad here on the charge of supplying fire arms to naxal groups in Andhra Pradesh have stated that Venkata Reddy, one of the arrested, had purchased firearms from Madhusudan of Byrapura in Hassan district and his accomplice. A press release from Superintendent of Police B. Dayananda here on Sunday said that the second accused in the case, Mohammed Sayyed, had supplied a rifle to Venkata Reddy. Reddy had also procured a carbine gun and seven other firearms through Madhusudan, the third accused from Munnarkad in Palghat district in Kerala, and supplied it to the Veeranna group of the CPI (ML) in Nalgonda, Andhra Pradesh. On interrogation, Reddy reportedly told the police that he was on his way to Palghat to procure modern weapons for naxalites and bullets for his illegally owned pistol. The three accused are also wanted by the Andhra Pradesh police. The police have examined the Varsha Gun Craft armoury owned by Madhusudan at Byrapura in Hassan, Mr. Dayanand said.
