HYDERABAD: Fresh trouble is brewing in the Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) with former Minister S. Santosh Reddy raising his voice against party president K. Chandrasekhara Rao, questioning his style of functioning and also his commitment to separate Telangana. The former Minister, who was sidelined and not consulted during the recently constituted State executive of the TRS, fired a fresh salvo against the Union Labour Minister. The differences between the two leaders appear to have reached a flash point as Mr. Reddy addressed a press conference here on Sunday making critical remarks against Mr. Rao.
`One-man show'
He said Mr. Rao did not bother to review party's dismal performance in the recent municipal elections. He denounced "the threats" held out by Mr. Rao against leaders who questioned the party's strategy in the polls. "His attitude is causing concern among those championing the cause of a separate State," he said, adding, "it is a one-man show in TRS." "I raised my voice and decided to come out openly as I could not tolerate the injustice done to the Telangana movement by a section of party leaders," he said asserting there was no need for him to meet Mr. Rao. He, however, clarified that he had no intention of joining the Congress or floating a new party. Mr. Reddy said he would lead a delegation to New Delhi to take up the issue of Telangana with AICC president Sonia Gandhi. "The goal of a separate State has been spoiled because of the hasty actions of Mr. Rao," he said. "I am going to hold a meeting with all likeminded people after my visit to New Delhi." He alleged that Mr. Chandrasekhara Rao lacked the clarity of thought like Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy who favoured second SRC or TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu who favoured a united State.
