BJP victory

This refers to the BJP's sweeping victory in the elections to the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation. It is particularly significant for the leadership of Chief Minister Narendra Modi who has withstood media criticism and internal squabbles in the BJP. He has shown that tough non-populist administrative measures can find acceptance with the people.
