Applications invited for green awards

VELLORE: The Director, Department of Environment, Chennai, has invited applications from individuals, institutions and research organisations for the Environment Awards given by the State Government to meritorious individuals/organisations involved in environmental education and awareness, protection and management.

A cash prize of Rs.5,000 is awarded for the best research article on environmental issues published during 2005.

Those desirous of applying may obtain application forms from the office of the Director, Department of Environment, Ground Floor, Panagal Buildings, Saidapet, Chennai-600015 on all working days between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. (Telephone 24336421/fax no.24336594). Application forms may also be downloaded from www.environment.tn.nic.in.

The last date for issue of applications is December 31, and for submission of filled-in applications (five copies) is January 20, 2006, says a release.
