THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The State Bank of Travancore which recently networked all its 672 branches with Core Banking Solutions, has launched the facility of e-payment of Central Excise and Service Taxes through its internet banking facility. Om Bhatt, Managing Director launched the e-payment facility at a function held at the bank's head office here on Monday. M.C. John, industrialist and former joint director, Industries Department, Kerala made the first e-payment transaction and received the cyber receipt from the Managing Director. By utilising this convenience, the customers of the bank can now remit taxes from home or office anytime. The transaction will acknowledged with an instant cyber receipt, which can be printed by the payer. Two copies of the authenticated chellan receipts will be sent to the customer on the following day by mail from the nodal branch. The customer assessee can view the past or present transactions at any point of time to ensure their remittances. Those high value assesses and corporate customers, who have not registered for internet banking services, can register the same at www.sbtonline.in. SBT is the first bank in Kerala to offer this hi-tech convenience to its customers and that too from all its 553 branches situated in the State. SBT has also introduced several new products for its customers under core power, like multi-city cheques, instant credit and speed credit.
