Bank launches traders month

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Bank of Baroda launched its Traders Month observance on Monday. G. G. Joshi, general Manager (SZ), said here that the bank would give priority for attending to the needs of the trading community in various business areas during the period till November 19. He added that the eligibility, limit of the loan and rate of interests had been made attractive for the traders.

Kiosk for farmers opened

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Canara Bank has opened a `kisan kiosk' at its branch in Neyyattinkara, near here, for providing information technology-enabled services to farmers. According to a press note, it is for the first time in the State that a commercial bank is opening such a kiosk. The kiosk offers information on markets, virtual markets, weather, crop module, planting material availability, fertilizers and pesticides, best farming practices, e-publications, credit facilities, Krishideepam schedules and archives, and so on.

Mudslip in stone quarry: one dead

Thiruvananthapuram: A 40-year-old man was killed and two others, including a woman, were injured when they were caught under a mudslip in a stone quarry at Mambazhakara in Neyyatinkara taluk on Monday evening. The police identified the deceased as Saji. The injured stone quarry workers were identified as Ponnamma and Chellayan. Both have been admitted to Medical College Hospital. — Staff Reporter

Office opened

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The office of the Indian Agricultural Association was inaugurated here on Monday by S. Sivaprasad, Principal Agricultural Officer.
