This Day That Age
The PSP leader, Acharya Kripalani, has regretted the rift in his party and said that it had shown that the confidence the public had in the PSP had been shaken. Addressing a press conference in Mysore on October 18, he said the rift was solely one of emphasis and should not be a bar in the way of forming a democratic opposition to the party in power. When his attention was drawn to reports that Dr. Lohia had more followers, Acharya Kripalani said that if Dr. Lohia had more followers, he (Kripalani) would be a follower of Dr. Lohia. "I have always been a follower," Mr. Kripalani said, "I was a follower of Gandhiji and I would be a follower of Dr. Lohia, if necessary." Whatever the comparative strengths of the two groups, it would be disastrous if their activities were confined to mutual recrimination, he added.
