Kerala
As usual, roads here have refused to survive the monsoon season. Many of the roads in the Kannur municipal area hardly deserve to be called roads any more as they have stretches of potholes that make driving a torture and pedestrians exposed to missiles of loosened gravels from vehicle tyres. Those who believed that the roads would be repaired once the new municipal council assumed power have been proved wrong. The new municipal chairman after assuming charge promised that the badly damaged roads would be repaired soon. Of course, some kind of repariging and patch work was done near the Taluk Office and in a few other spots. New chairman K. Upendran has said that the municipality will prepare a master plan for the town's development. Dreaming big about a town developed according to a master plan is one thing and executing small works such as timely road repairs is quite a different thing.
