HONOUR: Senior citizens who received the `Maamanithar' award in Pudukottai
The Senior Citizens Association, Pudukottai, celebrated the World Elders Day on Sunday in a different style. Deviating from the regular practice, the organisers thought it fit to honour the members of the association, who had crossed the age of 80 and still remained active. Each one of the handpicked elders was honoured with the `Maamanithar Award'. The Association utilised the occasion to honour two more senior citizens who were doing yeoman service for the elderly people as well as the society as a whole. The Chairman of the Pudukottai Municipality, Durai Divyanathan adorned all the awardees with shawls. The Principal of the H. H. Rajah's College, N. Vijayarani presided over the function. The president of the Association, K. Ramaiah, Amuthan Adigalar and others spoke on the occasion.
