CHENNAI: : The Pattali Makkal Katchi on Tuesday accused the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam Government of being vindictive to the party. Addressing mediapersons, PMK founder S. Ramadoss said the State had been trying to break the Democratic Progressive Alliance and wean away the PMK from it. "We are very clear that the Jayalalithaa Government marks a black chapter. So our only agenda is to remove the Government." He referred to the party stir on Sunday against a report in a Tamil journal, alleging irregularities in tsunami relief and implicating Union Health Minister R. Anbumani. Noting that the protestors were remanded in custody, he contrasted the approach of the authorities with two similar instances wherein the protestors were let off immediately. (On Tuesday morning, the PMK members were released on bail). Dr. Ramadoss said the party had decided to move court against the journal. Asked whether the AIADMK had sent any feelers, Dr. Ramadoss replied in the negative. About Chief minister Jayalalithaa's observations on the PMK, he said the AIADMK had been portraying itself as a "great practitioner of non-violence" and "she is giving us sermons." People had not forgotten the AIADMK's history. The PMK leader recalled AIADMK Ministers participating in agitations against the Centre following the Supreme Court's verdict in 2001 declaring Ms Jayalalithaa's appointment as Chief Minister as illegal.
