DREAM COME TRUE: Suriya with contest winner Mannivannan.
Mannivannan, until last week, was just another youngster who looked up to Suriya. Until recently, he had not even dreamt of sharing frames with his favourite hero. Until the Pepsi promo quenched his thirst for fame. Beating other finalists at the `Pepsi Drinking Suriya Voda Acting' contest, Mannivannan was chosen to act in Hari's latest film `Aaru.' "This is like a dream come true for me and I want to give it my best shot," said the visibly excited lad at Hotel Residency Towers after judges including Suriya himself, chose him over 39 other contenders from eight different cities. "It was difficult to wear the judge's hat as all these finalists were extremely outstanding in their own ways. According to me, they are all winners," said Suriya, after sitting through a session of thoroughly competitive auditions. Some of the participants had auditioned over video conference. Director Hari, also in the panel, was impressed with the participation. "I'm honoured to be able to bring fresh talent forward to the public," he said. Venkat Shankar, Executive Director (South) of Pepsi, said the contest fulfilled Pepsi's promise of providing a larger than life experience of fulfilling dreams and aspirations of the youth.
