Conviction set aside

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: The Karnataka High Court on Tuesday set aside the conviction of seven persons who were accused of having committed two murders in Hagari Sennanahalli in Davangere district.

On January 25, 1995, Korappa, Mallikarjuna, Gorajja, Bullappa, Ramappa, Bommappa and Jadagapppa picked a quarrel with Nagappa and Mangappa and allegedly hacked them to death with choppers. A trial court found them guilty, and the seven persons appealed against the order. A Division Bench set aside the conviction and said medical evidence of the time of death differed from the time of the murder stated by eyewitnesses.
