BELGAUM: The summary revision of electoral rolls in respect of the Belgaum Legislative Assembly constituency (No. 197) will be taken up and the Belgaum City Corporation has invited objections and claims.
In a release here on Tuesday, the corporation Council Secretary A.A. Desai said the voters may file their claims and objections for entries and deletions in Form No. 7, request for corrections in Form No. 8 and transposition of entries (in the same constituency only) in Form No. 8A at the designated locations from October 20 to November 11 between 10 a.m. and 5.30 p.m., excluding Sundays.
There will be special campaigns on October 29 and 30 and November 12 and 13 between 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the designated places. The summary revision exercise is being taken up with January 1, 2006 as the qualifying date.
Prescribed forms and draft electoral rolls will be made available at the designated locations (near Primary Kannada/Marathi/Urdu schools in their respective areas) with the designated officers, who shall be primary school teachers.
The post masters have been appointed as Designated Officers who shall be functioning from the concerned Post Offices, which will be treated as the designated location for the purpose.
Those who want to include their name in the electoral rolls are required to submit one of the following documents: a copy of the ration card, passport, arms licence, tax paid receipt/revenue record of rights, rent agreement deed/rent receipt (with copy of house tax receipt), telephone bill or LPG connection receipt, bank passbook, post office savings account, driving licence or pension book, photocopy of voter's identity card of any of the family members living in the same address, freedom fighter's pension payment order, surviving family members' certificate of deceased military persons or widow certificate, copy of pension book of ex-servicemen, physically handicapped certificate issued by the District Medical Officer mentioning address/residential certificates issued by local bodies.
For proof of age, the individuals are required to produce a copy of birth certificate or school leaving certificate or certificate issued by School/College regarding date of birth.
