20 feared killed as bus falls into pond

GUWAHATI:
At least 20 passengers were feared killed when a bus fell into a pond near Mayong in central Assam's Morigaon district on Tuesday morning.
Till late in the evening only nine bodies have been recovered.
Nine bodies have been recovered.
The ill-fated bus (No ASN 2211) that was drowned in the pond water was yet to be retrieved.
The driver, Biren Nath and several other passengers managed to jump to safety.
Police quoting the driver said that the bus, carrying 40-45 passengers, fell into the pond after the driver lost control near Murkota village along the Mayang-Morigaon road.
Police fear that at least 11 more bodies could be still underwater.
The bus services along this road resumed recently after it was damaged by floodwaters.
