Holistic medicine meet begins Friday in city
Staff Reporter
CHENNAI:
A three-day congress on holistic medicines will be held in the city from Friday at the Institute of Basic Medical Sciences, Taramani. Some 500 delegates will attend the congress from across India and neighbouring countries such as Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Malaysia and Singapore. Doctors and practitioners of other systems of medicine will present about 40 scientific papers. The theme of the congress is `Science of ancient healing systems.'
The congress has been organised by the Indian Holistic Medical Academy. The academy promotes alternative systems of medicine such as homeopathy, siddha, ayurveda, unani, yoga, acupuncture and hyponotherapy. The academy is celebrating its 13th anniversary. S. Nagendran, chairman of the academy, said while modern system of medicine treats the problem, alternative systems concentrate on the body as a whole.
