BANGALORE: The continuous heavy rain on Monday night resulted in the death of six persons in separate road accidents in Madiwala, Airport and Krishnarajapuram traffic police station limits. Poor visibility due to rain and speed-breakers under water are reported to be the causes of some of the accidents. On Hosur Road, near Oxford College, a light commercial vehicle capsized after being hit by a truck coming from behind. A multiutility vehicle coming in the opposite direction collided with the fallen vehicle resulting in the death of Dharma (35), C. Nagaraju (40) and an unknown person on the spot. In another accident, Srihamsa (30) and Narayanchari (35) were killed on the spot when a lorry hit the motorcycle they were riding on the Outer Ring Road. Uday (29) was killed on the spot when a truck which did not notice a speed-breaker collided with the motorcycle he was riding on the Mahadevpura Ring Road. C. Ramesh Rathore (28) who was riding pillion was injured and has been admitted to hospital. Traffic police have requested those driving in the rain during night, especially on the ring roads and other roads on the outskirts with heavy vehicle traffic, to exercise utmost caution, use direction blinkers and wipers for better visibility and to drive within safe speed limits. Many accidents can be prevented or damage reduced with careful driving, police said.
