NEW DELHI: Suspecting his girlfriend of having an affair with another person, a 25-year-old shot at her in full public view at Kalyanpuri in East Delhi on Tuesday. The accused was arrested on the spot. A letter, in which he had purportedly written that if the two could not live together they "should die together", was also recovered from his possession. According to the police, it all happened at F-Block in East Vinod Nagar around 10-45 a.m. The accused, later identified as Shibu Soren, a resident of the same locality, confronted his girlfriend, who was his neighbour, near their house and shot at her from close range. The bullet got lodged in her leg. Hearing the gunshot, the area residents gathered at the spot but it was Constable Anil Kumar who caught Shibu. The country-made revolver and the letter were recovered from him. The victim was taken to Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital from where she was declared out of danger. In the letter, Shibu, who claimed to be a mechanical engineer, had written that he felt that his girlfriend did not love him enough. The police suspect that Shibu had planned to first kill the women he loved and then kill himself.
