13 new dengue cases

NEW DELHI: Thirteen new dengue patients, all from the Capital, were admitted to various hospitals here on Wednesday, taking the total number of cases so far to 369. With two deaths reported on Tuesday, the toll has risen to six -- three each from Delhi and neighbouring States.

A total of 262 cases have been reported from Delhi, while 107 cases are from other States including Uttar Pradesh (42) and Haryana (29). In Delhi, MCD areas are worst affected with 249 cases, followed by NDMC areas (11 cases) and Railway localities (2 cases).

Rotary International's gesture

NEW DELHI: Rotary International District 3010 has rushed heavy blankets and tents to the earthquake victims in the Uri region of Kashmir.

Rotary Club in Srinagar, whose members are personally collecting the relief material sent from Delhi and distributing it among the people, is providing logistic support. Rotary Clubs in and around Delhi have already despatched 10,000 blankets and 500 tents.

New library wing

NEW DELHI: The American Center Library on Wednesday inaugurated a new section called "English as Second Language Corner" where resource material is available for English language teachers.

U.S. Embassy Minister-Counsellor for Public Affairs Michael Anderson inaugurated the new section in the presence of teachers and principals from several schools of Delhi. The ESL Corner has some 500 books and multimedia kits on various aspects of American English. It also includes an audiocassette listening station and three video viewing stations.

Health camp

NEW DELHI: Kamayani, a registered non-government organisation, had organised a health check up camp over the weekend at resettlement colony, Madanpur Khadar, Phase-1 here. The camp was inaugurated by MLA Ramvir Singh Bidhuri. A team of 15 doctors was deputed by Mata Chanan Devi Hospital for this purpose.
