RTC strike called off

HYDERABAD: The two-day-old strike by the one lakh-odd employees of the APSRTC was called off on Wednesday night after an agreement between the Joint Action Committee and the Government.

The two sides met at the initiative of the Government and hammered out an agreement for release of 2.4 per cent DA arrears, payment of balance of leave encashment, recovery of profession tax at a reduced rate of Rs. 20 and an ad hoc advance of Rs. 3,000.

The union leaders distributed sweets after the hour-long talks.
