A nook for senior citizens

A quiet corner to relax and share notes is getting ready for senior citizens of Kozhikode city. The spot is being readied at the Gandhi Park of the Calicut Agri-Horticulture Society on Cherooty Road in the city.

It is a quiet nook where the elders can spend their time, amidst the foliage plants and shade trees of the garden, away from the mad rush of the city.

The small space on the left side of the park selected for `senior citizens corner' has been paved with interlocking tiles. Seven concrete benches have also been placed there. The entire area is being greened so that the spot turns out to be pleasant in every way. Senior citizens can spend their time here from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Mayor M. Bhaskaran will inaugurate the corner at a programme to be held on November 1.
