No ordinary strike, this

Do Keralites have to consume iodised salt?

With medical experts divided over the issue, the debate rages on.

A Kochi-based organisation that campaigns for natural food does not take kindly to the iodised salt theory. Its protest, in the form of hunger strike, has been on for one-and-half-months.

The hunger strike is being staged near the boat jetty.

The organisation has laid down certain norms for those willing to participate in the relay hunger strike.

It conducts two-hour training for the protestors.

The norms include paying a fee of Rs.50, undergoing training, mentally preparing for the satyagraha, among others.

The organisation says the fee is collected for meeting incidental expenses such as erecting a shamiana and so on.
