NEW DELHI: Ankita Bhambri defeated compatriot Rushmi Chakravarthi 6-4, 6-2 in the quarterfinals of the $25,000 ITF women's tennis tournament in Lagos, Nigeria, on Thursday. It was the first semifinal entry at the Challenger level for the 18-year-old Delhi girl, who had made it to the quarterfinals of another $25,000 event at the same place last week. Ankita's younger sister, Sanaa Bhambri, lost to the top-seeded Petra Cetkovska of the Czech Republic 6-3, 1-6, 2-6 in the pre-quarterfinals. Punam Reddy was the other Indian player to lose in the pre-quarterfinals, as she bowed out 3-6, 1-6 to Anne Keothavong of Britain.
