Women voters outnumber men in four Gulbarga taluks

GULBARGA: Women outnumbered men in four of the 10 taluks in Gulbarga district in the final list of voters for the December 23rd zilla and taluk panchayat elections published here on Thursday by the election office.

Official sources told The Hindu that women voters outnumbered men in Jewargi, Yadgir, Shahapur and Sedam taluks and the number was almost equal in Surpur taluk. However, the number of men voters continued to be high than that of the women in the district.

The sources said 2,157 polling booths would be set up in the district. While the highest number of 260 polling booths would be set up in Surpur taluk, the lowest of 153 polling stations would be set up in Afsalpur taluk.

In Gulbarga taluk, 228 polling stations would be set up followed by 245 in Aland, 157 in Sedam, 217 in Jewargi, 237 in Yadgir, 230 in Shahapur, 225 in Chitapur and 205 in Chincholi taluk.
