Thiruvananthapuram: It will be a time for fairy tales at the Russian Cultural Centre, which is celebrating the 80th anniversary of the Roszharubezhcntr (friendship centre), the agency under which 56 Russian Cultural Centres operate worldwide. On October 30, schoolchildren will become the bears, foxes and fairies of Russian folklore at a special show at the Gorkhy Bhavanam in the city. Russian Cultural Centre director Ratheesh C. Nair said the fairy tale show is aimed at rekindling the interest that Kerala has always had in Russian folk tales and folk literature. The Centre is also trying to replenish its collection of Russian folk literature (English editions) by bringing over such books from Moscow. The Bhavanam will also be the venue for a seminar on the role of the Roszharubezhcntr in strengthening the bilateral relationship.
