BANGALORE: Karnataka Chief Minister N. Dharam Singh said here on Thursday he is ready for an inquiry into allegations of corruption in the implementation of the World Bank-funded Rs. 2,000-crore road projects as demanded by Maharashtra Governor and former Karnataka Chief Minister S.M. Krishna. Addressing presspersons, Mr. Dharam Singh said there is nothing to inquire as the works were carried out by an empowered committee led by the then Chief Secretary. A representative of the World Bank was monitoring the progress of road projects, he added. In the wake of the controversy over a World Bank report about alleged corruption during the tenure of Mr. Krishna as Chief Minister, the Maharashtra Governor said that any investigation should begin from the Public Works Department, which was then headed by Mr. Dharam Singh.
