NEDUMBASSERY: The Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) is in good shape and will not be bifurcated into three separate companies as envisaged under the Central Electricity Act, 2003, Electricity Minister Aryadan Mohammed has said. Talking to reporters here on Thursday, he said that there was no question of bifurcating KSEB during the tenure of the present Government. He said that such a move was needless in a State like Kerala and that it would only amount to cost escalation by way of maintaining three additional companies. Maintaining the KSEB in its present form is sufficient for the State, he said. He said that bifurcation might hold good in bigger States. The Electricity Act, 2003, calls for unbundling State Electricity Boards across the country into three separate companies for generation, transmission and distribution.
