HYDERABAD: The Director-General of Police, Swaranjit Sen, has said that the explosion at the Police Commissioner's Task Force office here appeared to be the handiwork of Muslim fundamentalist organisations. He told reporters here on Thursday that the investigation into the incident would take some time to throw light on the actual culprits. Though the police had not formed any idea about the identity of the people involved, it appeared to be the handiwork of Muslim fundamentalist organisations, he said adding that the probe was leading the investigators in this direction. He felt it would not be fair to blame anyone for the incident at this stage when the investigation was far from over. There were many other angles to the investigation which were not studied fully, he added. Mr. Sen called for extra vigil on the part of police to tackle naxalite menace, especially in view of the prevailing lull. He said the police were not harassing naxalite sympathisers. They were picked up only in genuine cases. He announced the participation of the Chief Minister, the Home Minister, and the Chief Secretary in the commemoration day parade of police martyrs on Friday. He said 31 policemen of the State attained martyrdom till October this year. The DGP said a 19-member police team undertook an expedition to Hotsprings on India-China border to pay homage to martyrs column.
