HYDERABAD: Two Congress MLAs from Mahabubnagar district have urged Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy to order an inquiry by an IAS officer into alleged misuse of funds meant for Food-for-Work programme in Nagarkurnool constituency represented by TDP MLA N. Janardhan Reddy. In a letter to the Chief Minister on Thursday, Mr. G. Chinna Reddy (Wanaparthy) and Mr. J. Krishna Rao (Kollapur) said that that several irregularities had taken place in the implementation of the programme. They alleged that bills were claimed for works which were not undertaken. Similarly, contractors claimed double bills for nine works. They said Rs. 5 crores was "siphoned off" without taking up works by the followers of the TDP legislator. They alleged that Rs. 4 lakhs was fraudulently withdrawn by some contractors.
