Chennai flight lands at Tirupati

HYDERABAD: Passengers aboard the Indian Airlines flight to Chennai were surprised when the plane landed at Tirupati en route its destination on Thursday evening.

Airline sources said, the flight had to land at Tirupati to unload some spare parts and service engineers at Tirupati to repair another aircraft which developed a technical snag after landing in Tirupati. Since Tirupati airport did not have engineers and spare parts and as there were no other flights bound there, the Chennai flight had to land there.

For the passengers, it was surprising since the announcement of the unscheduled stop at Tirupati was announced by the crew who claimed that they got a message from the airport that the flight had to land in Tirupati for some technical reasons.
