dated October 21, 1955: Ban on some fireworks

With the approach of the Diwali festival, the Government has banned some varieties of fireworks, such as `atom bombs' exceeding 1-1/2 ozs., and `putputias.' The manufacture, possession, sale and use of these is, therefore, illegal. `Atom bombs' are crackers containing explosives wrapped in paper and tied with strings. The big crackers of this variety produce a loud noise and, on bursting, are capable of causing injury to persons in the neighbourhood.
