Noida: Noida Authority has filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking a stay on the Allahabad High Court order for a CBI probe into the controversial allotment of plots here in July this year. It pleaded that there was no need for any probe since the draw had been cancelled and there was no gain to any beneficiaries. However, the Authority said it has no problem with the fresh conduct of draw manually as directed by the Court. The Allahabad High Court had, earlier this month, asked CBI to identify and name those officials and employees of Noida Authority and the Uttar Pradesh Government at whose behest the `manipulation' in allotments were done and submit a report to it. It had also formed a two-member committee to conduct the draw afresh through manual draw of lots. Authority officials, however, maintained silence over the petition, filed on Wednesday, in the apex court. About 1250 plots in Noida were allotted through lottery on July 2 but were later cancelled by the Chief Executive Officer in the wake of allegations of irregularities. -- PTI
