CHENNAI:
Communication skills are imperative to succeed in career. It is all the more vital for those who aspire to take up law as a profession. Several law universities conduct moot court competitions to motivate students to develop their mooting skills.
If language and communication make a good lawyer, here is one such budding professional.
Suhrith Parthasarathy, a 19-year-old Chennai-ite and third year law student at National University of Juridical Sciences, Kolkata, has emerged winner in a series of moot court competitions. "The moot court competition will present complex mock court problems.
``The contestants will have to argue on its pros and cons," said Suhrith.
The former student of Vidya Mandir, Mylapore, says his experience in school as a debater refined his "mooting skills."
His victory came when he was chosen to participate in the National Moot Court Competition conducted at Symbiosis Pune in 2004. His team won and he got the best speaker award.
In 2005, he represented the national team at the prelims of the Commonwealth Moot Court Competition at Hyderabad. Again, Suhrith and his team were chosen the best and sent to take part in the semi-final of the Commonwealth competition in London last month.
