Pondicherry
Special Correspondent
Pondicherry: Secretary of the Pondicherry State unit of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) A. Anbalagan, MLA, has called upon the Pondicherry Administration not to concede the plea of the private bus operators in the Union Territory for upward revision of bus fares relating to both the inter-state and intra-state services. In a release here on Thursday, Mr. Anbalagan said that any upward revision would hit the passengers, particularly those hailing from poor families. He said that the bus operators had cited the increase in the prices of diesel for their demand. When compared to the prices in Tamil Nadu, the cost of diesel in Pondicherry was far less. The duty imposed by the Transport Department on the vehicles was also less than what was quoted in other States.
