PONDICHERRY: Pattali Makkal Katchi parliamentary party leader M. Ramadoss has said that the Union Finance Ministry had agreed to let the Pondicherry Administration hike pay scales of the staff in the Revenue and Land Survey Departments here in keeping with the recommendations of the Fifth Pay Commission. Mr. Ramadoss said in a release here on Thursday that orders effecting the upward revision of pay scales of the Revenue Inspectors, Village Administrative Officers and Rural Assistants in Revenue Department and also of the Technical Officers, Managers, Field Inspectors and Assistances in the Land Survey Department would be available from the Central Minister in the next few days.
400 staff will benefit
He said he had persuaded the officials of the Ministry to effect the upward revision as there was full justification in the pleas of these staff for increased pay packets. Four hundred staff would be benefited by this measure, he said. He said that when the panel recommendations were implemented the pay scales of the higher officials in the departments were revised upward while the pay scales of their subordinate staff were left out. He said he had taken up the matter with the Union Home Ministry the grievances of these people first.
