KADAPA: TDP State Secretary and Pulivendula constituency incharge S.V. Satish Kumar Reddy, the main accused, and nine other accused persons among 16 TDP functionaries charged with murder in connection with the death of two Congressmen in opening of fire in Velpula village in Vemula mandal during cooperative elections on October 18, were remanded to judicial custody till November 3 by Pulivendula Magistrate Kanthimathi on Thursday.

The Magistrate posted the case for hearing to November 3. Amid heavy bandobust the police produced Satish Kumar Reddy in the court in the morning. Nine other accused persons -- T. Siddha Reddy, Gurivi Reddy, Konda Reddy, Sesha Reddy, Sivagopal Reddy, Raghava Reddy, Gopal Reddy, Suryanarayana Reddy and Ramanjaneya Reddy-- were produced in court in the evening. Five injured persons among them were administered first-aid in Pulivendula Government hospital before being produced in court.

Shifted

Satish Kumar Reddy and 15 others were charged with murder on a dying declaration given by Gajjela Gangi Reddy, who succumbed to the bullet injuries, that they snatched away a carbine from a gunman Venkateswarlu and opened fire at Congressmen in Velpula village in Vemula mandal in a clash during filing of nominations. Satish Reddy was shifted to Kadapa Central Prison amid heavy police bandobust in the afternoon. The nine others were also shifted to the prison later.

Satish Kumar Reddy pleaded with the Magistrate to direct police officials to send his gunman's firearm to the forensic science laboratory to ascertain whether the finger prints on it were his. Reddy told the Magistrate that he did not open fire, but his gunmen did so.
