Meet on industry's role in development

CHENNAI : Tamil Nadu Governor Surjit Singh Barnala will inaugurate a seminar here on the role of industry in the development of South India on October 29. The Madras Management Association (MMA) will hold the seminar in association with the Konrad Adenauer Foundation (KAF), to mark their golden jubilee year.

The MMA said in a release here that 300 delegates from all over South India would participate in the meet to be held with the cooperation of management associations in Bangalore, Coimbatore, Hyderabad, Kerala and Pondicherry.

C. Chandramouli, Secretary, Department of Information Technology (IT), Tamil Nadu Government, will deliver the keynote address.

Joerg Wolff, Resident Representative to India, KAF, and M.M. Lakhera, Lt.Governor of Pondicherry, will also address the meet.

The seminar will focus on issues such as role of textile, IT, auto, leather and tourism industries in developing the southern States.

It will also discuss issues relating to the social responsibility of the corporate sector.
