THIRUVANANTHAPURAM : Fast Track Sessions Court II Immanuel P. Kolladi on Thursday sentenced a 27-year-old youth to seven-and-a-half-years rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs.15,000 after he was found guilty of raping a minor in Anchuthengu beach in December 1998. The prosecution case was that Franklin, a resident of Achuthengu coastal area, sexually assaulted a Class VI student, also a resident of the same locality, after taking her to an abandoned house near the beach. The girl was playing on the beach when the incident occurred. The amount realised will be given as compensation to the victim. In case of default of payment, the convict shall undergo rigorous imprisonment for another a year and a half, the court decreed.
