HYDERABAD: The Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, has asked officials of the Commercial Taxes Department to ensure vigorous enforcement of rules and take deterrent action against offenders. The Chief Minister who reviewed the performance of the department on Thursday approved the proposal put forth by the officials to engage the services of an experienced senior counsel for dealing with the large value cases that come up in courts. He also directed the officials to create a special cell in the CID to investigate the cases pertaining to economic offences. The officials informed Dr. Reddy that consequent to the implementation of VAT, the revenue collections showed a steady increase.
Building laws
The proposed simplified building rules to be common for all the urban areas in the State has reportedly gone back to the drawing board status after Dr. Reddy sought more details on the enforcement and regulation part of the new rules. . Dispensation of the floor space index was among the changes recommended in the draft rules that were to be made applicable to both corporations and municipalities.
