Lorry owner murdered

BANGALORE: A lorry owner, Gangadhara Shetty (49), was murdered allegedly by his driver Vijay Kumar near Siddaiah Road in Wilson Garden police station limits on Thursday night. Kumar is was yet to be arrested, the police said.

Kumar, who was dismissed from service a week ago, approached Mr. Shetty on Thursday evening, seeking payment of salary dues. In the process, an argument ensued between the two after which the accused allegedly assaulted Mr. Shetty. The latter was rushed to Mallya Hospital where he died.

Mr. Shetty was earlier working as a head constable attached to the City Armed Reserve (CAR) police, and had taken voluntary retirement. He had later started a goods transport business and owned 10 lorries.
