BANGALORE: A 55-year-old man was bludgeoned to death in MICO Layout police station limits in the city on Wednesday night. The police gave his name as Narayanaswamy, a watchman and a resident of Arakere on Bannerghatta Road. When Narayanswamy was sleeping at a construction site near Rajalakshmi cinema, the assailants attacked him with iron rods and smashed his head with a boulder. Enmity is said to be the motive behind the murder. The MICO Layout police have registered a case.
Run over by train
A woman aged 45 was run over by a train near Binny Mills on Thursday morning. Passers-by, who saw the mutilated body, alerted the police. The railway police, who have registered a case, suspect that the woman could have committed suicide by jumping in front of a moving train.
Pedestrian killed
In a hit-and-run case, a pedestrian was fatally knocked down by a vehicle on Tumkur Road, near Widia factory, around 8.30 p.m. on Thursday. The body has been kept in M.S. Ramaiah Hospital mortuary, the police said. The Peenya traffic police have registered a case.
House burgled
Thieves broke into the house of Muralidhara in Kamakshipalya police station limits and made away with cash and jewellery on Wednesday night. The police said Muralidhara, a tailor and a resident of 14th Main, Kamakshipalya, had gone to Tirupati. On a complaint by his brother, Vijayendra Babu, the Kamakshipalya police have registered a case.
Mobile phone stolen
A thief stole a mobile phone and a camera from a window of Varun Gupta's house in Vijayanagar Police Station limits on Wednesday night. On a complaint by Gupta, a resident of 1st Main, 5th Cross, REMCO Layout, the Vijayanagar police have registered a case.
Cash stolen from church
An intruder made away with Rs. 10,000 in cash from St. Joseph's Church on Mysore Road on Monday night. The police said a man had stayed back at the church after it was locked on Monday evening. After stealing the cash, he had escaped by cutting open the grills of a ventilator. On a complaint by Fr. Maria Selvam, the New Tharagupet police have registered a case.
